"Alright, see you tomorrow Mary," Tali said, waving as she left. She then turned to Kori again, took his hands in hers and clasped them tightly. "I'm not sure if I can convince the powers that be to let you come along, but I will definitely put your name forward for the next trip before it happens." She paused. "Isn't Zion supposed to have been untouched by the Great War's bombs? If so, there's more than likely going to be some awesome prewar stuff there. I'll see if I can find something to bring back for you."

"Well, okay," Kori hung his head and sighed deeply, kicking at the floor. "Well good luck," his tone was a little sour as he backed off.

Early the next day

Mary stood with Vulpes and Tali, her face bunched up as she stared as she said goodbye to Muri and Logan. "Mummy is going to miss you," she kissed Muri on the head and hugged Logan.
Vulpes pulled a face, obviously irritated by how long it took Mary to say goodbye.

"Come on, she won't be able to see them again for a while. Let her take her time," Tali said to Vulpes. Now that she thought about it, she was going to miss them too, so she walked over to them and gave them each a little kiss on the forehead.

Mary's eyebrows creased as little Logan and Muri began to cry as she moved away, coughing into her hand she quickly turned. "Well, let's go," she didn't bother saying farewell to Caesar, he hadn't even bothered to say good-bye to her, he was probably still in a huff from last night.
Vulpes looked at Tali and narrowed his eyes. "This is why children are taken from their parents to be raised, such attachments are weak," he grumbled a little and walked after Mary, irritated beyond belief at being stuck with these two women for over a month.

Tali momentarily looked shocked, but quickly recomposed herself. She thought that taking children away at birth was a horrible thing to do, but she knew that there was no point in trying to argue that, especially with Vulpes. So she kept quiet.

"Wait!" a voice yelled behind them; it was Caesar, who was running after them. When he caught up, he looked at Mary. "Er... Goodbye then.." he said, unsure of how Mary would react.

Mary stopped mid-step and turned to Caesar as he ran after them, her left eyebrow raised slightly in confusion. "What?" As he stopped she turned completely to look at him, when he said goodbye she blinked dumbly. "Oh, yes.....well goodbye," the awkwardness spread to everyone causing Mary to look around in a 'erhhh' manner.
Vulpes shuffled and quickly started moving again, truth be told he wasn't looking forward to going to Zion, he knew hardly anything about it other than what the Scouts reported.

"Uh..." Caesar had no idea what to say next, so he merely took hold of the twins, turned around and headed back to his tent.

"...Right," Tali said, looking confused, before turning and following Vulpes.

"Yeah okay," Mary followed after Tali and Vulpes, a confused expression on her face. As the trio arrived at the gates to leave she suddenly spun around. "What if they forget where I put all the twins milk? What if something happens while I'm gone?" Her motherly hysteria went into overdrive and she moved to charge back to the main tent.
Vulpes caught Mary with one hand and sighed. "You wrote everything down remember? And stuck it to Lord Caesar's bed, and you also wrote another note and stuck it to his throne....then to the fridge..and then you gave another one to Lucius." The man breathed. "No one will forget..now let's leave," he brushed Mary aside and walked out of the Fort, already sick of the woman's frantic behaviour.

Tali walked over and patted Mary's shoulder. "Don't worry Mary, Vulpes is right. No-one will forget, and nothing will happen. Everything will be fine, and we'll be back before you know it! Now, let's catch up to Vulpes before he leaves us behind."

"Fine, fine," Mary grumbled to herself as she walked quicker to catch up with the man currently disguised in some normal wasteland wanderer outfit. She looked up at the sun and sighed. "How are we even getting to Zion?" It wasn't exactly the easiest place to get to unless you were part of a caravan.
Vulpes turned to her and sighed. "We're going to join a Caravan company and travel with them, then when we reach Zion we'll figure out where to go from there, this is a scouting mission...nothing more."

"So where are we meeting this caravan?" Tali asked Vulpes. She was glad that she had decided to wear more appropriate clothing for going on an expedition in the Wasteland, as opposed to the outfits she usually wore; this job didn't sound like the appropriate occasion for dresses and heels.

"They'll be waiting for us near to the Strip," there was a hint of contempt in Vulpes' voice, he really didn't like the Strip. Mary chuckled a little and elbowed Tali. "Remember when we went there and Kori-," she stopped dead, suddenly realising she'd be dropping Kori into trouble if she revealed how hyper and drunk the guy got. "Just remember Kori," she laughed it off. "That seems so long ago now but it's only been about 4 months." Mary's mind wandered back to Logan and Muri who were no doubt still asleep. "This better pass quickly," the woman muttered to herself.

Tali giggled at the thought of Kori's antics at the Strip, but this reminded her of how much she was going to miss him while they were gone, so she stopped and looked a little sad. She then turned to Mary and patted her on the shoulder again. "It will, don't worry."

"If you say so," Mary sulked a little. Vulpes continued to lead them, knowing all the short cuts and easier roots to the Strip due to his missions, after about 2 hours they could see the settlement in the distance. "Okay, the Happy Trails, or whatever they are known as, should be around here somewhere." Upon hearing his words, Mary began to look around for any signs of a caravan group waiting to leave. "How are we going to convince them to let us travel with them, we don't look like guards nor do we look like their own?" Vulpes sighed as Mary continued to talk. "We'll pay them, of course."

Tali looked around for a few moments, before spotting a small group of people standing around. "Is that them over there?" she asked, before approaching them nervously. "Are you the caravan looking for extra help?"

The man she approached looked at her. "Sure are," he replied.

"Great! My friends and I want to join you."

"Hm..." The man eyed the three of them up. "Alright then. Come along. I hope you haven't brought too much stuff along, because if you have to drop something, we're not going back for it."

"We have only what we require," Vulpes kept a poker face while Mary just sulked. "Alright lets go," Mary grabbed Tali's arm and marched after the group as they entered the cave, ready to travel to Zion.

(10 hours later)

Mary collapsed on the floor, exhausted beyond belief, she somehow managed to crawl to the backpack and get out some water. Vulpes just stood still, eyes darting around them as if he could see something. The Happy Trails crew were chatting among themselves about how beautiful Zion was, one woman protesting loudly about how the trek in had cut them off from New Vegas, too small to travel back through. Mary stood up and sipped her water, ignoring the banter currently taking place. "Tali do you want a-," she was cut off as the head of the person next to her exploded. The woman ducked down to avoid the sudden wave of gunfire and rolled behind a rock, pulling her own gun out ready. Vulpes had heard them before they fired and was already half way up the hill a few meters away from them, with his machete out. He decapitated the first attacker and then went on to attack the second.

Tali let out a cry of shock, before pulling out her gun and looking around wildly to see who was attacking them. She saw what looked like a tribal aiming his gun at her and, following Mary's suit, jumped behind a rock to avoid his bullet. As soon as she heard him shoot, she aimed around the rock and pulled the trigger on her own gun, shooting the man in the chest.

"Cover me." Mary tossed her gun at Tali and rolled her sleeve back, revealing the displacer glove. "And erh...keep a safe distance okay," she muttered nervously before running out of the hiding spot and charging the group. Quickly darting up the hill, Mary manages to easily scale the rocks in the way and leap at one of the men, she kicked him in the face and then brought her fist down. Within and instance the man's head exploded and a shock of electricity blasted everywhere, throwing Mary back against the rock face of the mountain.
Vulpes cursed as Mary was knocked back and quickly went towards another group, knowing Tali had Mary covered so he could take out a few stragglers trying to snipe them.

Tali looked through the scope on her pistol and began dealing a mixture of lethal and non-lethal body shots to all of the attackers she could see. Then, as she was looking around for more of their attackers, she noticed one perched on a cliff up above. She aimed, pulled the trigger and almost dropped her gun in shock; she had shot the man in the head. She watched as the man's body fell to the ground, wondering how the hell she managed to pull that off.

Mary ducked to avoid a blow from another Tribal, moving just in time to avoid the large axe which had now embedded itself into the mountains face. As the Tribal struggled to get it free she kicked upwards at his arm and broke it, she then grabbed the broken arm and swung him into her fist, the sonic boom erupting again and blasting the guy to pieces though throwing her back in the process. Mary fell off the mountain and skidded down the hill, into a bush below with a large thump. "Ow....." She could be heard grumbling.
Vulpes finished off the remaining men and looked at Mary and Tali. "That was unexpected," he muttered, walking over to one of the corpses to inspect it.

"MARY!" Tali cried, running to the edge of the hill and skidding down it after her. "Are you alright?" When she reached her, she held out her hand so that she could take it and help her up.

"Ow, ow, ow." Mary crawled out of the bush slowly and took Tali's hand, she heaved herself up and winced at the number of grazes and cuts on her. "That bush had thorns in," she scrunched her face up in pain.
Vulpes was still inspecting the corpses, picking through their items to find some clue as to who they were. "I haven't seen this poison before," he muttered to himself. "We need to continue moving." He began to walk off, casually strolling over the bodies of the people they had traveled with for the past half a day.

Tali pulled a small pouch of healing powder out of her bag and handed it to Mary, before trotting off after Vulpes. She felt a little bit sad as she stepped over the bodies of the other members of the caravan, but she knew that if she stopped to bury them, she'd get left behind, and she did not want that.

Mary took the smallest bit of the healing powder, not very accepting of its side effects, and applied it to the worse cuts on her body. "Thanks." The trio had literally just passed the frail bridge and entered an opening when the tell-tale roar of a Yao Guai stopped them in their tracks. Vulpes visibly tensed and looked upwards, he spotted the large beast and instantly backed off. Mary also stopped, horror spreading over her face. "Oh great-," she muttered before the beast began to charge them. "WHAT DO WE DO?" The woman jumped to the side to avoid being run down and ripped apart, Vulpes also managed to dodge to the side and get up on a near by rock. The Yao Guai spotted Mary, who was trying to get away, and ran at her again with his claws ready to rip her to shreds.

Tali cried out and and scrambled up a nearby small tree. She looked around to see where it had gone, and, with another cry, she saw that it had gone after Mary. She pulled out her pistol again and tried to aim it at the creature, but because she was trying keep herself from falling out of the tree at the same time, she couldn't aim properly. Suddenly, a gunshot rang out and the Yao Guai fell dead. She looked around for their saviour and saw a man standing there. He was wrapped head to toe in bandages, though he wore normal clothes over the top of them.
